                                FUCHSSUPPORT 6-MONTH ANNIVERSARY

AUGUST 24, 2004

TRIBUTES FROM MEMBERS

From Nancy P/VA (board moderator)

 6-month anniversary prayer:

Tuesday, 24 August, 2004
Happy 6 month anniversary to all!

Heavenly Father,
We come to you today to give thanks for all of our blessings. You have given us so much to be grateful for
and by your hand we were led to this support groupto help one another.  You have helped us to accept this disease that we have and to make the best of it.

You have given us encouragement and comfort when we needed it through our members and through their prayers.  You have given us new friends to share our lives with; our hard times and good, our tears and our joy.
Thank you so much for sending us Jman to lead us on the path of this journey. He has reminded us that You are always there for us and that You are All Powerful. He continues to watch over us to make sure that we understand that through You all things are possible.
Thank you for Karen P. She has put her heart into this group. She spends endless hours helping us to understand this disease named Fuchs'. She goes the second mile to see that our questions are answered. She has been many things to us; mother, friend, and comforter, and the list goes on. Thank you for every member that has contributed to our success, Lord. There are so many to name but you know who they are. They have been those little angels on someone's shoulder to give inspiration, They have tried to find out information for us and new things that may
help us. They may be the ones that just said "we care".
Thank you for all of our members, Lord. Each one of us has contributed in our own way. Each one has shared part of themselves with us.

As we continue to grow, help us to keep our love for You and each other on the path that you have chosen for us. Let each member feel that they are special. Help us to do your bidding in helping each other. Be with us through our trials and tribulations and keep our faith strong.
We ask these things for the good of all.
Amen

From Tom R/VA:

Hi All:  This wonderful, informational, supportive, loving, and spiritual group --FuchsSupport--has mean much to me as I have over a month now since my first T which needed to be a traditional PK one.  Thanks to Karen P. and all of you donating time and talent to manage this valuable site, a site I've  described to my eye surgeon's office and which is now being mentioned by staff to those fuchies who seek support and information before or after transplants.  In fact, I have forwarded some of the links to my surgeon's office and the printouts from them have been circulated to all medical and other staff.
It's such a blessing that we can share what is on our minds and get such loving feedback from others.
Blessings, Tom R./Springfield, VA (L eye T 7/19/04; R eye with Fuchs,  thankfully carrying much of my sight load while the L eye continues to heal; I have appt. with surgeon Sept. 1 and pray for a good report on the healing progress)

FROM KAREN L/CA:
Something Nancy from VA said in Chat this morning.  she hopes this group even though there are quite a few members, it does
not change from  being a caring and supportive group>

so I would have to say from my own point of view, this is the
first group that cared enough when i asked questions, no matter what they were, they were answered.  support was there from a lot of the members, not just the moderator. (in FF , I might get an answer, yet never from the members)

My fellow fuchie friends, they really care, they understand where I am coming from and yet the unknown of where I am going to better sight .

Some who have had the transplant and received better sight, know that long road that is ahead for me which now seems endless and yet everyone here in this group is caring and loving.  something I have never experienced in any support group I have been in.

since we are in this together, we REALLY ARE IN THIS TOGETHER, our fears, our concerns, whether it is with our eyes, or our family, someone will pick up on it and send a prayer our way.  that is so important, when we think we have nothing, we do have the power of prayer.

I also have never been in a group that actually prayed for ME, not just the group, but ME.

I feel even though  I know this is an e-mail, to reach out and touch them in a physical sense and yet I know that might happen some day, yet i know I love each and every one that is in this group, even if i don't know you in person, yet feel i do know something about you personally.

We tend to share what is going on with us, like Kathy G with her critical grandson in the hospital and she also waiting for the finalization that she will have that better sight.  i notice her cataract removal is my daughters birthday, Sept 21.

that day seems so long away for me, and yet I know it will come.
It is hard for me to sometimes word myself, yet a group that cares and supports one another is a rare group to be in and this is this group.  i hope it never changes that we can't have the support in our times of need, not just with our eyes.  Take care Karen L

From Elaine A/MN:

Happy Anniversary to all of us. I plan to be in chat tonight but I wanted to post a few words. This group has really been a blessing to me, the information, prayers and humor. I've gotten the information I needed to make decisions regarding my eye care. Through the T, floaters and retina tear, the information and support is here.
Thanks to all. Elaine A/MN

From Liz W/AZ:

LOOKS LIKE I MISSED CHAT:( BUT I HAVE TO SAY AMEN AMEN AMEN TO THE PRAYER THAT WAS POSTED. I THANK THE LORD FOR THE GROUP WE HAVE HERE. IT HAS BEEN A GREAT BLESSING TO ME AND AND ALL OF US. I KNOW THAT FROM THE POSTS. THANK GOD FOR KAREN P. AND JMAN FOR HAVING A BURDEN FOR THIS GROUP. THANK GOD FOR MARLA FOR THOSE SUNDAY MORNING PRAYERS. THANK GOD FOR NANCY AND RITA FOR ALL THEY DO. NONE OF US ARE INSIGNIFICANT BUT I JUST WANTED TO COMMEND THEM FOR KEEPING THINGS ROLLING FOR THE REST OF US. THEY SPEND A LOT OF TIME EITHER WELCOMING NEWCOMERS OR FINDING INFO FOR THE LIBRARY AND MAKING SURE THE SITE IS CONVENIENT AND EASY FOR US TO USE. HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY ALL OF YOU!!! AND ...HAPPY SIX MONTHS ANNIVERSARY. I WONDER IF THERE IS A WAY TO HAVE SOME TYPE OF MUSIC PLAYED FOR THIS EVENT.

From Diane M/WA:

Congradulations on reaching 6 months, Fuchs' Support!!!

Just a few words to say how much this group has meant to me.  I found this group in June of 2004.  The links and files helped me find out what Fuchs' is all about, plus so much support from members in this group is unbelievable!  No matter what the question members jump right in and chime in to answer.  When someone has a problem or burden prayers are sent out.  It is great!!

I thank those who started this group up, and to those who do so much in researching, plus all in the group that are there to support each one of us.

I pray that this group will continue to stay strong and grow.  Praise God!

Diane M/WA

From Barbro E/Vancouver, Canada:

In August,  2004,  I was so fortunate to find this group of people who have Fuchs Corneal Dystrophy, just as I do.  It feels so reassuring to realize that  everyone here,  communicating with this electronic word energy,  shares some experience of this frustrating & frightening syndrome.

Having been diagnosed almost ten years ago, I was not ready face any serious thought of surgery until...just the last couple of months, since July 2004.  As with everyone,  I had/have many other challenges to work with in my life,  and since I was lucky enough to have had great vision before Fuchs,  I just thought I could keep on coping.

Recently,  I just had to face how my deteriorating vision is affecting more & more of my life.   I'm already finding that being connected to this group, ~ reading all the communication, questions, answers, information & caring on this wonderful website  ~   is helping me find the courage I need.  This is the courage I need to see my opthamologist again,  &  begin preparing myself to walk step by step down the road to a transplant.  Maybe there's a chance I could read, draw, & sculpt again someday.....more than I'm able to now, anyway.

I feel heartfelt gratitude especially to Karen P., and everyone in this Fuchsupport Group....God bless you all        Barbro E/Vancouver Canada

HOPE EVERYONE HAD A NICE TIME. JESSIE/PA

From Marla/KS:
Mea Culpa! Karen!   To tell you the truth, I started an email, but I got into writing a diatribe against the "other group" and deleted it.  Then didn't get started again.  Fuchsupport is so much more and better than that other group.  You can discuss problems here that are not necessarily Fuchs related, but certainly just as important.  We have something in common, a disease, but then we discover we are not alone with that disease.  Then we discover we have a lot more in common with each other than just sharing a disease.   This group has helped me realize I can contribute and make a difference.   Especially members who may email just to thank me for making a contribution.  How neat is that?!!!  So thanks to all and a special thanks to Karen P for being there.   May God Bless

From Cindy K/Canada:
I KNOW THAT I HAVE NOT EMAILED BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY FOR A TRIBUTE. I SEE SO MUCH SUPPORT TO PEOPLE HERE. NOT JUST ON AN EYE LEVEL. ON A PERSONNAL LEVEL. I AM GOING THROUGH A MARITIAL CRISIS AND WHEN I READ MY SUPPORT BACK FROM YOU AND MARLA IT BROUGHT ME TO TEARS AND IT GAVE ME STRENGTH. MY HUSBAND WAS ON THE COMPUTER THIS MORNING AND WHEN HE LEFT TO GO TO WORK I SAW THAT THE LIST OF THINGS I SENT WAS ON SCREEN.  I BELIEVE HE SAW ALL THAT I E MAILED AND RECEIVED. YOU BOTH MAY HAVE HELPED ME MORE THAN JUST WORDS AND SUPPORT TO ME AS HIS DISPOSITION CHANGED. HE ASKED ME TO GO TO VANCOUVER WITH HIM BEFORE HE LEFT FOR WORK. I MAY GO IF HE CALLS ME. I'LL KNOW MORE WHEN I SEE HIM LATER IF BOTH OF YOUR SUPPORTING  WORDS WENT FARTHER THAN THEY INTITIALLY MEANT TO.
IT IS HARD TO PUT INTO WORDS IN WHAT THE MIND AND HEART FEELS. TO TELL HOW WONDERFUL AND SUPPORTIVE I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE HERE TO ONE ANOTHER IN THE MANNER THAT I SEE. THE MORE INPUT FROM PEOPLE ON THIS SITE THE MORE CHANCE THEY HAVE IN FINDING WONDERFUL SUPPORTIVE FRIENDS. IT IS NICE TO SIT BACK AND READ THE KNOWLEDGE GAINED HERE. AS IT IS INDISPENSIBLE. DOCTORS DON'T GIVE THIS AMOUNT OF KNOWLEDGE FREELY. SOME GIVE VERY LITTLE FOR FEAR OF TOO MUCH TIME, INFORMATION, AND NOT WANTING TO FREAK OUT THEIR PATIENTS, AND SO ON.
THERE IS A SMALL BUT VERY DEDICATED GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT HOLD THIS GROUP TOGETHER AND WITH OUT EACH OF THEM AND THEIR FUN FRIENDLY WAYS IF WOULD NOT BE THE SAME. THESE PEOPLE HAVE MADE THIS GROUP THE WAY IT IS. THEY HAVE GOTTEN THIS INFORMATION AND STILL DO FOR THEMSELVES AND FOR OTHERS. "UNSELFISHNESS"  THEY MADE THE TIME TO LOOK LEARN AND TEACH AND FOR ONE I CANNOT FIND THE WORDS THAT CAN COME CLOSE TO THANKING YOU ALL FOR WHAT YOU A HAVE GIVEN TO PEOPLE LIKE ME. THIS IS WHY I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GIVE A TRIBUTE AS I CAN NOT FIND WORDS OF VALUE TO WHICH YOU ALL DESERVE.  CINDY / CA
